It’s been a tough two years and change for kiddos with chaotic dynamics from pandemic related schooling changes and closures, and we know they’re probably a little restless during their spring break days at home. That’s why we’ve rounded up our picks for great workshops that kids can engage with creatively to keep their minds busy!
Parents will love the options on our list which are both fun and educational! Kids will be so excited to learn all about games, new languages, nature, art and more. The bitesized increments also make it a perfect opportunity for them to try something new. We’ve also made sure to include both in-person and virtual options, so there are opportunities for all families to find something that fits their lifestyle and schedule.

Spring Break Creativity: Online and In-Person Workshops to Sign Up For in March and April
In Person: TADA! Youth Theater In-Person School Break Camps; Multiple Ages
On March 21st, 22nd, and 23rd at the TADA! Youth Theater, your kids can enjoy a fun-filled day of drama, music, and improv from 10AM to 5PM. Kids will have a chance to explore the dramatic arts, learn to boost their confidence and public speaking skills, and have the opportunity to socialize with new friends. Virtual Class: Roblox Game Design Spring Break Camp; Ages 7-12
If your kids have basic computer knowledge and typing skills, you can sign them up for this virtual workshop experience. They’ll learn how to design, build, and publish a game, improve their creative thinking and problem solving skills, and engage with their peers in a constructive way. They’ll learn an introduction to coding, basics of game development, and much more! It’s a collaborative, creative, fun-filled environment for learning and socializing.

Virtual Class: Little Kid Virtual Bilingual Spanish; Ages 4-12
This wonderful workshop by ViLaCa is an immersive virtual workshop for children to learn Hispanic and Latinx culture and traditions while also practicing and improving their understanding of Spanish language. Sessions are offered Monday through Thursday, and you can select a monthly subscription option or a $10/day class option!

Virtual Class: Graphic Design Online Camp; Ages 8-14
If you’ve got a little artist in your midst, this is the perfect opportunity for them to engage in modern art making skills. Kids will learn the basic principles of design, learn about font and text layouts, and engage with creative digital processes.

In Person: Family Sundays Free Art-Making Workshops; Ages 3 and Up with Adult
Head over to the Rubin Museum for their recurring weekly workshops from 1PM to 3PM. Enjoy a wonderful family friendly collaborative session making Mandalas, beading projects, special banners, and more. It is a great opportunity to engage in relaxing creativity and calming activities while also exploring other cultures and traditions.

Virtual Class: Online Art Workshops at The Art Studio NY LLC; Ages 5-18
New Classes are open for enrollment in late March, as well as for the month of April. Kids can choose from beginner’s weekly classes, creative painting and drawing, anime and manga workshops, figure drawing and portraiture, and so much more! And best of all, kids can do it all from the comfort of their own home. Whether you start classes during spring break or sign up as an after school activity, it’s a great way to get kids more creatively engaged during screentime as well as developing problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, and freedom of self expression.

In Person: “Spring Break Out” Workshops; Ages 6-9
Head over to the Old Westbury Gardens in Westbury in Mid-April for some truly wonderful workshops and discovery days for kids. Kids can enjoy the beautiful weather outdoors with guided walks and explore the seasonal changes to the flora and fauna, learn more about nature, and check out local wildlife! In Person: Spring Discovery Days at Sweetbriar Nature Center; Multiple Age Groups
From April 13th through the 20th from 9AM to 3PM, head on over to Smithtown for a day out at the Sweetbriar Nature Center. Explore the beauty of nature together and explore the local wildlife and plants as well as the nice fresh air! You’ll have the opportunity for your child to explore hands-on activities, interact with wildlife up close and in person, create crafts, play games, and socialize. Themes included are Spring Explorations, Bees Butterflies & Bats, Amazing Migration, Fur & Feathers, and Hidden Worlds.

Key to my Art in Amityville offers private lessons and events for playdates, parties, social gatherings and more. They also offer workshops and guided classes for all ages. It’s a great way to get kids away from the screens and engaged with the arts!
Casa De Spin in Massapequa is a fabulous art studio for kids that encourages creative splatter painting and spin art. Perfect for the parent who wants to keep things clean and tidy at home, but has an exuberant and creative child! What’s Cooking in Oyster Bay is a wonderful place to bring your kids for workshops, special events, or spring break activities.
