You don’t have to travel too far to “get away from it all” here on Long Island.  On less than a tank of gas, you can enjoy a coastal winter wonderland vacation by visiting The Hamptons!  The Hamptons are always hip and happening in the summer months, full of locals and tourists all soaking in the sun, running over the dunes, catching a wave, sailing peacefully along the shores.  But have you ever wondered what it would be like in the winter?  Wonder no more, because we’re bringing you a guide to some of the best things there are in the offseason!  There’s just too many wonderful things to see during winter in The Hamptons. Check out our picks for great activities to enjoy in the area even in the cold, snowy weather.

The Reform Club is located in Amagansett and it’s the perfect spot for a winter vacation.  It’s a relaxing and luxurious inn as well as a notable spot for a splendid breakfast feast!  It’s the area’s “Best Kept Secret” with suites, cottages, rooms, and special events  to enjoy all year round.

The Maidstone Hotel is an incredibly chic and luxurious boutique hotel located in East Hampton.  It’s been a staple destination for travelers since the 1920s, and once you’re here you’ll understand why.  The hotel was recently renovated, but did not sacrifice any of its charm.  It has been artfully redesigned to create luxurious, peaceful retreats for its guests.    Enjoy a variety of curated experiences including wine and cocktails in the hotel lounge, dinner party celebrations with your friends, and so much more.

The Ram’s Head Inn is a much sought after waterfront destination on Shelter island.  With picturesque views on its waterfront grounds, this classic establishment was started in 1929 and continues to uphold its fine tradition.  It’s just 6 miles from the exquisit Mashomack Preserve which is perfect for nature lovers of all ages.  Or perhaps you’d enjoy an excursion 5 miles away in Smith Cove.  It’s a beautiful colonial style Inn with 17 artfully curated lodgings.

Southampton Inn is nestled in the heart of the historic Southampton Village, and is just a hop-skip-and-a-jump away from the beautiful downtown.  It’s a 9min walk from the Southampton Historical Museum, which makes for a great afternoon activity in the chilly season.  If you love  the peace and freedom of an open beach off season, you’ll be pleased to know that it’s also just 1 mile away from Coopers Beach.  For those who like to “putter around,”  you can check out the activities at the Shinnecock Hills Golf Clib, too.  This tudor-style hotel also has a wonderful library with a fireplace and a beautiful piano, which is perfect for getting cozy on snowy days.

The Baker House is perfect for those who wish to experience unparalleled luxury and stay in style.  The bed and breakfast has just finished its renovations as of February 9th, and it’s only getting even better.  Considered to be the finest lodgings in the region, and it is the ost exclusive B&B in the Hamptons.  It has the sophisticated charms of a top tier English Manor home, with all of the most stunning modern conveniences and amenities.  It’s the ideal place for those looking for an unforgettable experience with their significant other or best friend.  The Baker House 1650 offers fine dining options such as room-service breakfast or garden-side meal, only the finest spirits and fine wine available, and a boutique spa for all of your personal needs.  This quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of regular life will be just what you need to return home feeling rejuvenated.

It doesn’t matter what level of activity you’re into, there’s still a lot of amazing things to see and enjoy in the “offseason” in The Hamptons.  The Montauk Lighthouse is still open for tours, and we have to say that after the beaches are covered in a  freshly fallen snow, there’s truly nothing more stunning than the Lighthouse grounds.  It also makes a phenomenal keepsake photograph if you visit at sunrise or sunset with the glistening snow covered sands.

For those who prefer dining and entertainment, we highly recommend visiting the Wolffer Estate and participating in their wine tasting events!  Or swing by the Sagaponack Farm Distillery, and samples their wares as well.  They’re both quite a lot of fun and you’ll help support local winemakers and regional vineyards in the process.  If you're staying for the weekend, you can spend an additional evening catching Dinner and a Show at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center; they host a variety of theatrical performances and musicians.  Or consider a nice brunch and a trip to the Parrish Art Museum for an daytime date. And before you head back home for the week, see what band or musician is playing at Baron’s Cove!  Perhaps you like to spend your trips improving your knowledge and expanding your scholarly interests.  May we suggest a stop off at the South Fork Natural History Museum?

For the guest who loves the great outdoors, you may have fun exploring The Walking Dunes at Napeague.  And don’t stop there!  You can book a session for ice skating at the Buckskill Winter Club and incorporate some movement into your day.  We also recommend you check out ??Shelter Islands nature trails and see if you can do any bird watching or animal spotting!

The possibilities for joy and excitement are endless in the offseason.

No matter the weather, there’s truly so many wonders to behold right in our own backyard of Long Island!  That’s why we love living and working here!
